Gay!

Slightly less gay than the other one. I voted 0 in my head, but 5 for real.

Get better parents.

cat-bastards responds:

ur gay twice as much and your parents are nice! >:(

Gay!

I hate songs about fairies, and this was a song about fairies!
And you stole it from Iggy Popzorz!
You suck at guitar btw, and your drums are abysmal.

Five, keep it up.

cat-bastards responds:

ur gay! >:(

YESSS

(read review for Imperion first)

You're back in my heart :)
Totally loved this. It's got all the padman-elements. Mean beat, glitches, weird noises, driving bass, syncopated synths, everything.

I'm not giving up on you, lol!

Fifen.

dj-padman1 responds:

Aaah, praise from Caesar..
Glad I'm back in your good books, man, its a volatile world being a padman. :P

Yeah, I suppose deep down, this is my favourite type of electronic music alongside electronica and hard techno. I had some fun making this, and I'm stoked it gave you some satisfaction. :)

I must stop by your page soon, I remember you had some newies.

Well...

I would not have reviewed this if it wasn't you, I simply dislike this sort of music, but I'll give you that it's very well done - it's as diverse as trance can get, and it maintains its energy throughout the track.
Lots of pathos in the harmonies, which again I dislike, but certainly adds to the continuity.
I don't have much else to say - I wish you wouldn't waste your glitch and FX talents on a genre like this but it's entirely your call of course. Good luck on the competition! Now let's see if I like your new D'nB submission more :)

dj-padman1 responds:

Wintang, first off, thanks for taking the time to review this beast, especially since I now know you're not a fan of trance. I'll file that away in the old memory banks!
-Consults family member to learn what 'pathos' means-
Ahh, I see! Well, you're right, thats the name of the game I think. Maybe a hard trance submission would be more to your liking? I admit that this type of trance doesn't have a wide appeal. A bit flowery, but somehow satisfying on some levels.
I should get my act together and actually finalise some of my hard techno and trance.
Well, you're a good man for biting the bullet and sitting throught the whole damn thing :) I thank you.

P.S It's a garageband comp, so I'll probably get the results in about 3 years!

Hi! We're the Wheatfield Frolics!

It's again very nicely done, sounds good again. It really belongs in the same suite as Dryad Whispers (you invent great titles btw) in its soothingness.
I'd suggest you experiment more with countermelodies, and syncopating the rhythm section.
I hadn't listened to your music yet, but you're a great find! Keep it up!

Grumbleduke responds:

I does sound like a band, doesn't it?

Thanks again for your positive words, and keep watching this space; something else may happen!

Soothing.

Nice piece of music, this! Beautiful sounds and a nice comforting composition. It was a little too poppy for my taste though, partly because of the continuous arpeggio of the harp. I was rather hoping for a 2nd voice on the lead melody as well.
But otherwise, very nice. Check out some of my stuff!

Grumbleduke responds:

Well, it had the desired effect, so I'm happy. I happen to like my homophony, thank you very much :P. Besides, we all know arpeggios make a suitable stand-in for real counterpoint any day (cough). Thank for the review and I shall go check your stuff now.

Cool!

attemptedperfection said you were very good - I kinda forgot about that, but I remember when I saw the ad. So here I am! Lol! I crack myself up sometimes.

I recognize the tune from pitbulljones - it's cool that you didn't choose to spice up the very effectively basic composition, and maintained that lo-fi sound as well.

I thought up the best metaphor ever. This production is a SARCOFAGUS for pitbulljones' tune! It protects the body from decaying AND makes it look fancier!
Damn, I feel like doing an IQ test now :)

Anyway, it reminds me a bit of Radiohead (Kid A/Amnesiac style) with the heavily echoed sustainedness and chaotic beats and all.

Wonderful job. 5/5

neighborhood-plastic responds:

hahaha! thanks a lot, man. attemptedperfection is a great artist as well.
take it easy

Good job.

This is very interesting. Inventive piano playing/sampling (loved the bit with the triplets!), good drums, nice mixing too, overall a good job. It's indeed not classical, but neither is Arbiter's music - it's both modern orchestral or something like that, and this is just slightly more modern with its poppy drums and all.

All stuff that has been said about getting better sounds aside, I suggest you try to establish more of a structure in the song: in a theme, usually various scenarios come up. In the case of a hero, you'd for example introduce him first, then have him go into battle, then have him almost lose, then have him come to his senses and eventually be victorious. Throughout these situations, you'd have a melodic theme, say 8 bars long, that you arrange differently to suit the different situations. Don't get me wrong, I hear different situations now but there is not really an element that leads me to combine them into one whole story. Hope this makes sense to you.

Anyway, it gets my 5. Hope you don't mind that I don't listen to your techno and drum 'n bass right now, I'm still recovering from a massive headache :)

cornandbeans responds:

woa, thanks for the review. I see what you mean now, how the events take place in the song. Of course, its a work in progress, so I can still make changes to it. :D

....and I do know how much your head can hurt after listening to drum 'n bass with your head hurting in the first place. When you recover, be sure to check out event horizon. ;D Thanks again for an extremely helpful review,

~cornandbeans

Yeah, cool :)

This is not your best tune IMO, but let's blame it on getting used to the new dist :)
Kickass sound indeed - the palm mutes are badass and it has that nice gutsplitting grind to it.
Drums are way better than on your previous tunes, too - what'd you change?

I wasn't very happy with the lead on this one though. It tends to get a little whiny because it follows the metre of the powerchordage all the time, and as someone else suggested it would benefit from a little less treble and more bass.

But ok. Now finish Aggression with this new baby!

4/5

DarKsidE555 responds:

Always thankful for constructive criticism and fair votes. Well, I'm currently messing around with the drums, I have to develope a new kit. Those we're old presets and I think there was some reverb on the snair what made it sound better.

Tell you what, the leads weren't that great because I did this very fast, I just wanted a hole track for me to listen to my new distortion. Other then I thought, it turned out pretty sweet.

Thanks for checking it out Win! :)

Indeed,

You bet your ass we are a nice community to share some music with! :D

Neat song here, I like that delayed lead synth a lot. The beat is very 90s - which is fine but also a little corny (remember Maxx and all that?). Luckily you have a good sense for atmospheric sampling and mastering.

Still, the whole rhythm section started to get a little old after a while - but seeing as how this tune is a few years old I'll first check your other stuff to see if that is really something you tend to not pay attention to :)

Good job, overall!

Doc-Marsh responds:

Thanks for the review. Yeah, 90s for sure on that beat. I appreciate the feedback.
