Hey man,

haven't been around your page anymore and it was about time. Real nice track this. It gets a tad melodramatic though, if you permit the expression. Just a little heavy on pads at places.

Real good rhythm section with a real driving bass, pretty intense. In full gear the track really shines, with the somewhat old-school tech attack. Very rich.

Let's see what else I've been missing out on! 5/5 here :)

dj-padman1 responds:

Hey, do you have a brother with a similar name?
Long time no see man, too long..
And you haven't missed much, I was fairly inactive at that time.
Gotta turn that around! Catch ya.

Woo

Kickass stuff man, I loved when it started glitching :)

The track could do with a little variety, a hint of a lead maybe - but it's deep and intense as hell. Great sound on those drums, really grinding.

DJRunaway responds:

Wow, thanks alot man :) I actually wasn't planning on finishing this... Although I have a great new drumkit now... Hmmm... Maybe I will :D

Whoa

Great track man.

It has the simplicity and layeredness which makes me like stuff like Underworld so much.
I love the lead synth, it plays a pretty sad melody but the blunt phrasing gives it a great hook. The whole rhythm section is awesome, it really rolls along smoothly, very well done.

It helps that I'm very in the mood for this. It really entices me - it's built very delicately with all the syncopating melody snippets and it slowly harpoons its way into my brain where it starts revolving. Awesome.

I just read what attemptedperfection wrote and that's simply another way to describe the very same sensation.

I am going to assume that you carefully planned this track out and it's not merely luck of the draw - it's too thoroughly good for that :)

Thanks for the unexpected pleasure of this track! It helped make my night!

All 10s, a 5 and one of my relatively rare downloads!

Wow, great review!

This song was no mere luck of the draw -
It took painstaking hours, walking away from the computer, refreshing my ears, listening again for another hour, walking away, coming back, tweaking some automation somewhere in the mix, changing one eq setting, compressing this or that, panning this or that, filtering this or that... One of my favorite things about this song is the subtle production notes: Around 2:50, when the reverse cymbal hits, is filtered to around 1700hz, and that introduces the arpeggio for the first time, and then 8 measures after that I bring back the same reverse cymbal, but unfiltered this time... it's very subtle and most people won't notice it, but I find it effective at drawing you in for the finale. I'm glad that the melodies were catchy; when I'm told that they gnaw relentlessly and harpoon theirselves into my audiences' brain, I'm a very happy guy, hah.

Thanks for the amazing review, I'm off to return the favor.

No leprechauns were harmed...

Oof! This time sometimes the harmonies are REALLY off I'm afraid... that's just bugging me, I can't relax while I'm listening to this because I don't rely on it being beautiful :(

Again, it's the lack of direction in the song that pulls me off, while I really like the mood set by the instruments (that 'ahh' was a tad corny, but fun nonetheless).

There's good ideas there, just have to be worked out more properly, you'll get there.

Stealth-Emergence responds:

yeah though I think that may be due to the wrong sets of instruments in parts. :(

I'm sure I will get there, eventually!

Thanks Wintang!

Peace Out!

Hmm

I thought this started out promising, but to be honest it just went on kinda naggingly.

You might wanna pick up some music theory. I think you show talent in atmosphere and arrangement, but your compositions are very direction-less. Since you show that you want do stuff that focuses more on melody than generic dance music, it would really help your music when you put more harmonical structure within.

Also consider varying in volume of the various instruments you use. At some points it seemed you had randomly muted a section for the sake of diversity.

If you can put more into the struction and composition of your music, you can probably become very good.

Stealth-Emergence responds:

Ahh yeah the lack of music theory has come to bite me in the arse ;) yeah I do have a book here which I've been meaning to work through, I think I'll crack on with that a little sooner now!

and the volume variations, is something I haven't thought a great deal about yet! so thanks for the heads up on that!

Yeah I need to start focusing on structure more, maybe I should revert back to writing on my piano or guitar, as I think I yield better results from pieces that I compose on those instruments first, then transpose those into FL

Thanks for your heads up WinTang!

Peace Out!

Hehe

This is a fun track man, nice work.

I like the glitched up drums but I think you might make the sequence a little longer, because they became completely predictable in their unpredictableness.

I like your choice of instruments, the sound of the piano is a good addition to contrast with the noisiness. The lead it plays is pretty unconvincing though, it sounds too random, you should pay more attention to creating a good lead melody.

And the scream at the end was too cheesy!! XD

Otherwise very nice, good atmosphere.

Stealth-Emergence responds:

excellent, thanks WinTang, I had fun making this, as all of the samples were made by me, including my very distrorted vocals in parts, and household items which I used granular synthesis techniques on

When you say unconvincing about the, with regards to the piano part, do you mean it doesn't quite fulfil the mood of the piece?

ahh the scream, well I had other ideas to include with the piece, had I of thought of how to implement those other ideas, the scream would have added to the feel. and the impact of the other ideas I had. however I couldn't work out the additional ideas for this. and I'm sure the idea will hit me later, when I'm working on something else lol

Thanks for your review WinTang!

Peace Out!

Tasty

What a great tempo, I was so joyfully swaying in my chair listening to this. Crisp sound man, great crunchy dist on the main guitar and beautiful sustains on the lead. Good drum kit too.
Kind of A Perfect Circle-y, whenever they're any good (and not just some fucking goth-occulty-verbalhocuspocus crap, don't get me started though).

Halfway though it started to dawn on me that the rhythm guitar gets too blown away by the drums, since riffage like that relies a lot on the impact of palm mutes, and they were just too quiet to have that deep oomph.

Great tune overall anyhow, very catching. Which is even better than catchy.

Metalcan responds:

Thanks for the nice review! Much appreciated.

Whoosp

I accidentally put the review for this under Closing In (because I scrolled to a random song via your profile), so go read there.

Bad-Man-Incorporated responds:

haha, thanks man, was an awesome review too!
I don't "show off" mainly cause, I'm too lazy to do something more complex..haha..Plus, time is always against my old ass...ha.
I will definitely smooth things out for the vocal version, infact if I remember correctly, I already have. I just gotta do the damn vocals.

Thanks for the awesome review. And the fiven\m/

Cool beans

Neat tune man, very frantic. Drum are nice, a little high-pitched for my liking, but great fills and percussive interludes.

"Main" synth theme (which it starts with) is pretty gorgeous and highly benefits from the background synth riffs later on. Only thing that I REALLY didn't like was that trance synth (C - Eb - F - Eb etc), though you glitched it up nicely. Might just be me, loathing everything that comes close to trance. I'm weird like that :)

You obviously strived to make it very diverse, it's almost rhapsodic. That's great though it becomes a little too inconsistent at times, especially towards the end where it could have used a little more oomph.

I understand how you think my Time For Bed is too boring, hehe.

chutzpah responds:

Earlier I was pissed that I wasn't getting reviews, but to get one review from someone like you and Carbo is way better 10 reviews from random people (no offense to Hangar18 who has no posts). And yeah I'm more into the Infected Mushrooms personally. Glad you liked it. Practically all my songs strive to be trance (whether or not thats how they come out) so thats kind of unfortunate for your opinion. I also implement a strong arabic influence and use a few scales that usually go along the lines of G Ab B C D Eb (not necessarily that key, but that same pattern). I like the sound but somtimes I end up with a (i don't know music terms but...) a kind of ragtime type of sound. Real discordant at times and melancoly, with a contradicting upbeat rhytm and harmony. Oh and nice word there... rhapsody. I gotta used that now... thats how a lot of my stuff sounds lately. Aye I think I've said more than enough now, but thanks for the review hope to check out more of this well renowned "WinTang" in the future.

o yea

Ace job, it's insane. Only not as insane as I think it might've been. I mean, if you're going to Bungle in an atonal sax solo, might as well do that occasional death metal riff. And fuck up the drums a bit more.
Considered that countered by the guitar part, the voxed coda, and your sweet British ass.
