Great.

After completing my judging, allowing myself to be less picky again :)

Yeah, I really dig this kind of stuff, because it's so cunningly goofy! You have constructed some great patterns, here, that can alternate eachother quite virtuously (which they do) and this leads to a very diverse piece of track, tied together mostly by the drums. So good thing the drums are so consistent, although they could've been fancied up a notch by throwing in a little fill here and there.

I've just had an idee-fixe, this may be going totally nowhere, but bear with me:
When listening to unconventional music, the mind automatically searches for clear signs of dislike and it is only when there is nothing "negative" to think about it, that the mind opens itself to new possibly aesthetical values.

Because if this were true, I think the drums might've been the "negative" factor, the savior of the conservativity.

Otherwise well done, very cockily turning some of the most awful trance/techno synths I've ever heard into powerful tools!

Oh yeah, I write the darndest things.

Anyway, nice reviewing you again, consider this very fifened. See you around.

Stealth-Emergence responds:

Hi WinTang! :)

All in all I think all the critique received for this tune, have been fair and pointed out things to me, I know to be true, more time spent on this and it could have been much better!

This certainly isn't my best work but I'll learn

Thanks again!

Peace Out!

You know what I thought about the MAC 06 oct., so lets just get on the the review, shall we?

First off, I didn't wrote the lyrics...bad_man did, I just gave him input what story it should be. I totally disagree on the vocals, they may be a little rushed because bad_man had only two takes for it (deadline problem) BUT they are fitting in the song and aren't off-key that much as you say.

Don't quite understand the 5.4 in catchiness/appeal because a lot of people could listen to this song the hole day long.

Anyways, I know that this song succeeded. Not in the contest (sadly) but in general. Well, thanks anyways for taking the time to judge in the MAC.

So

Was talking to ped yesterday, whining about all the crap on the AP, and then he told me you were back, awesome. :)
Real good tunes, as was to be expected, full of pleasant details - in this one I especially loved the Grandaddy-style arpeggio. That bass synth sounds like you stole it from Real2Reel (hehe).
Love how it builds into the glitched part.

Not much to say really, loved it, I really want to learn to make this sort of stuff tho, perhaps one day you can help me a little bit?

Kingbastard responds:

AH, good to see that you picked up on the grandaddy arp, i've been listening to the sophtware slump a lot recently.
I can certainly try an help you out as much as poss, just let me know what you're wanting to achieve.
Thanks for the review.

Summary

Piepie is a good man, but please don't work for the ears.

Kickass tune this, something for the Beastie Boys to ponder. Love intertwining basses and stuff.

Reviewing you is getting old :)

yep, reading your reviews is getting old

How the heck did you get so much attention to this in one-and-a-half month? A few days ago I was rejoicing about the fact that a track I put up six months ago was my first ever to reach 200 downloads!

But I'm not jealous. I'm not.

Thanks a lot WinTang! You voted 0 for...
Nah.

It's good, I'm not particularly fond of the genre, reminds me a bit of "happy hardcore" which was in general mindnumbingly stupid but this really has gems in it. Crisp synths, frantic arpeggios, neat panning effects, steady beat. Didn't particularly like the melody stuff, bit too generic for me, but the accompaniment is really creative.

Overall, lots of good effort made to create that can perfectly hold its own against the Trance/Techno veterans around here, and that (plus the fact that you got my scores up recently) gains you my mighty five!

cornandbeans responds:

lol

Techno/trance is pretty popular among newgrounders.. I kinda play that to my advantage, I guess.

I really had to keep the melody simple, I would distract the arps if it was all over the place.

I still don't know how I got this many downloads. It was a really big break for me, I was used to getting like 2-4 reviews and 100- downloads.

Still, you'll always kick my ass in creating melodies, and you give some of the best advice of anyone I know. :) I've always enjoyed your music.

droooooooooooooool

Yes! This is the kind of music I always listen to when I enchant forests!

Hell yeah, neatness, sometimes it feels a little crude on the 'entrance' of a synth, as if it starts off loud but immediately decreases its volume by half. Don't know if that was intentional, but I... noticed :)

Neat composition and luckily, not nearly as productively crammed as that Enya-crap!

Grumbleduke responds:

The synths that I used did decay a little too quickly I suppose, but any lower and they wouldn't have the "filling" I desired, as the longer notes would have decayed to nothing before the next one comes in. This is my first ambient piece, so I can only learn from the comments and wisdom of the genre-enlightened :).

Wheeeeeeeeeeel of Anorexialaibity

I wish I could post that wonderfully cheesy headbanging smiley here.
Excellent cheesily evil rawk track man - the guitar seems synthesized tho, is it?

(I kinda hope it's not)

Loved it anyway!

Grumbleduke responds:

The guitar is synthesized; pretty good imitation though I think. Cheese is the way forward!
