Great piece. I don't feel like pickin' it apart. I'll just play it once in a while and imagine waving you goodbye to it.
Please visit once in a while, post in the BBS to tell us how things are going, leave one of your priceless reviews, and maybe provide us with little ditties that you deem unworthy for expanding your career...
Lots of good luck dude. You will be missed.

MaestroSorrow responds:

For sure WinTang, I will not forever shun Newgrounds.

I'll be doing all of those, in good time ^^.

Thank you for the review, and your words.

Sorry,

accidentally posted the review for this song with Behind The Shadows. So look there :)

MusicalRocky responds:

Lawl. That's all right man.

Fuckin' hell man, this kicks total ass!! I weren't expecting such a magnum opus from a debutant man, great surprise. Flawless guitar virtuosity to enjoy, but it doesn't get too show-offy. That part with the machine-gun-rate tapping was downright orgasmic.

Great build-up. Neat use of panning. Drums could have been louder and meaner - see if you can get your hands on a nice drum VST or something.

And I didn't care much for the solo, but I don't often do, in metal.

Keep up the great work. Keep posting in the forum, too. You might get very big.

Metaljonus responds:

Thank you very much for the kind words! For the drums I use beatcraft I really want to get a good drum program of VST of some sort..but I dunno Thank you for listeing!

Top stuff.

Dude, this totally kicks ass. I want your drum kit!
Great composition. It's very... teasy. I think it wouldn't have hurt to go a little more nuts in the piano improv, and it would benefit even more from a neat double bass. But that doesn't mean it's not awesome now. Everything fits.

And may I also say that it was very nice hearing from you again. :)

Awesome!

Dude, that grabbed me straight by the nuts!
I don't know the tune, but it is kickass, and you really managed to make it very energetic and pumpin'. At first I kinda missed some drums, but on second thought I think it's even more awesome without them.
I love the dissonance in the organ at the beginning, and the whole Atari-beepage that follows it. It's old skool, and lively, and awesome.
E-cookie and fifen.

mhb responds:

thanx man!!! i appreciate it. spent years workin' on this. one hard fuckin' tune man!

Fo sho foo

First of all, it's good to see you're back on NG, I went to those sites you mentioned, and they didn't appeal to me whatsoever so I'm glad you came to the same conclusion... it's difficult enough on here to get some recognition but over there it seems almost impossible.

On to the song: another fine composition with the energy and glitchiness I dig so much in your work. A great, simple-yet-effective bassline that can easily last the whole length of the song.

I thought it took a tad too long to ascend into full gear, and the bass could've been somewhat, for lack of a better word, deeper. And I think it would suit the song better if it ended with a bang, instead of the little fade you have now. Just to do more justice to the whirlwind effect the whole thing has.

But otherwise, it's a very well organized chaos, with lots to enjoy on repeated listens. It's very admirable how you are able to dose several elements (e.g. the "drop the bass" sample) in a way that it adds to the identity of the track, but doesn't become predictable.

Do you have MSN at all? If so, add me (hotmail is in profile), I'd like to be able to talk to you now and again.

dj-padman1 responds:

WinTang, its been a while :)
Thanks for the review. As usual, you've gone into welcome detail about a number of things, and I'm very grateful. Probably one of the problems is there were often two basses goin' on at once, so there was some loss of definition. Probably should just have 1 generally, nice and deep like you say. Mid-range bass..how caucasion of me!
Damn, you caught me out on the outro as well! Point taken, needs to be impulsive and sharp. It's a bit wimpy, I admit it ;P
Oh yeah, i just got MSN up and running. I'll be sure to add you post haste.

Dub-i-dib-dibby-dibby-dip!

Good stuff! I like how it started out all ominous, then decreased density to rebuild itself around the drums.
It really has that good 80s feel (in my book: good 80s = Eurythmics, bad 80s = Level 42), with the mix of clear and crunchy synths. The way that syncopate, it flows very well.
It's not exactly music I would listen to all day, but it's a very solid effort and the only criticism I can come up with is that it ends so sudden.
5/5. Check out some of my stuff?

Sebby64 responds:

Yeah, I guess it does have an 80's feel, well kinda. It does end sudden. I did that on purpose, because this was a straight to the point type of song, so I made a straight to the point ending. Thanks for reviewing!

Kickass

It's always good to hear some metalized world-music, and this is no exception. Nice simple shred accompaniment, and the arpeggio is very cool too.
The lead kicks ass, but is played a little sloppy, that's nitpicking though.
It could do with a B-section as well, and a dynamic increase... I hope you make this longer.
Another lil' suggestion: have the bass play a little fill now and then in the last half of a measure.
Kickass, as the summary says, I'll have to check more of your stuff.

mhb responds:

thanks man! yeah the lead was done in a weird fashion. definitly not my normal way of playin' and recordin'. i was thinkin' of makin' it longer but at the moment i'm not sure where to go with it.

Awesome

Agreeing with SuperDrummer on the dynamic part, this still leaves a lot to be enjoyed!
That theme is awesome, very uplifting and ominous, and the whole semi-classical arrangement fits very well. You have a great talent for building rhythm sections - the drums are very good, driving and powerful, and inventive.
I wish it had sustained distorted guitar powerchords! Maybe I'll add them to it sometime, if that's allright with you.
5/5 on this one!

Tips?

If it's production tips you want, I can't help you.
If you're looking how to get further, I'd stick to what the first half of the loop does - having the synths out of sync with the syncopative drums (so much syn, 'tis a sin) and see what combinations you can come up with :)

Check out some of my stuff if you like.
